Nonprofits and Foundations
Bridge to Mobility Bridge to Mobility is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides “last-dollar” grants, typically up to $5,000, to help individuals who have exhausted other funding options obtain a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. Its mission is to increase independence, employment, education, healthcare access, and community participation by making accessible transportation possible for people with mobility challenges.
The Jett Foundation The Jett Foundation helps families affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy gain access to critical mobility and accessibility resources, including wheelchair-accessible vehicles. Through its Accessible Vehicle Fund, families raise a portion of the vehicle cost, and the foundation helps fund the remainder, ultimately purchasing and gifting the accessible vehicle to the family.
Parenting Special Kids Network Parenting Special Kids Network is an Arizona-based nonprofit that supports parents and caregivers of children with disabilities by providing one-on-one guidance, resource navigation, parent-to-parent mentoring, and support groups. Their mission is to help families access services, connect with other parents on similar journeys, and confidently navigate the often-complex systems of care available to their children.
Mariah’s Miracle Mariah’s Miracle is an Arizona nonprofit that helps children with special needs access therapies, adaptive equipment, and other resources that may not be covered by insurance. The organization provides financial assistance for items that improve a child’s mobility, independence, and quality of life, helping families overcome barriers to essential care and equipment.
State Vocational Rehabilitation Programs
Every state has a Vocational Rehab (VR) program that may help fund vehicle modifications or transportation solutions needed for employment or education. Arizona Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) may provide funding for wheelchair-accessible vehicle modifications when transportation is necessary for employment, job training, or maintaining a job. Eligibility is based on disability-related needs and an individualized employment plan developed with a VR counselor.
Veterans Programs
Disabled veterans and active-duty service members may be eligible for specialized financial assistance programs that can help offset the cost of an accessible vehicle or adaptive equipment.
