Abilities Expo Houston Levels Up for the ADA’s 35th Anniversary

Today marks the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)—a groundbreaking moment in the fight for disability rights, inclusion and access. And how are we celebrating? By throwing the ultimate community event: Abilities Expo Houston, happening August 1–3 at NRG Center, Hall E!

This free, three-day event isn’t just a nod to the ADA’s legacy, it’s a full-on celebration of what it made possible. From assistive tech and disability resources to inclusive sports, adaptive gaming and expert-led workshops, Abilities Expo is packed with opportunities to empower our dynamic community.

Among all of the amazing new features this year is our Early Access Hour, from 10am to 11am on Sunday, August 3. To create a more welcoming experience for all, Abilities Expo will offer this pre-show access for individuals with sensory disabilities who may find the typical Expo environment overwhelming. This quiet hour will feature dimmed lighting, reduced noise and fewer crowds, providing a calm and supportive space to explore the event before general admission begins.
