Adaptive Bike Donation to Give Gift of Play to Child with Leigh’s Syndrome

It’s hope in motion: on Saturday, September 10 at 10:50 a.m. at WestWorld of Scottsdale (16601 N Pima Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85260), a three-year-old with disabilities will get the surprise of a lifetime as her family receives a customized adaptive bike. The bike giveaway kicks off Day 2 of Abilities Expo Phoenix, a massive gathering and vendor showcase for the disability community. Funding for this giveaway is made possible through a partnership between the national medical fundraising nonprofit Help Hope Live and the Esther & Pedro Rosenblatt Foundation.

Bike Giveaway: Emberly at age 3

Adaptive Bike Giveaway Makes Outdoor Access Possible

Emberly was recently diagnosed with Leigh’s Syndrome, a progressive and terminal illness with no known cure. Her brother is living with the same diagnosis. While Emberly loves to run and play outside, the diagnosis will inevitably lead to progressive mobility challenges and other health issues.

Emberly can no longer ride a traditional bike, which makes it difficult for her to stay active and access the outdoors. That’s why this surprise adaptive bike, customized by Freedom Concepts to suit her mobility, is such as game-changing opportunity for Emberly and her family. The bike will encourage mobility and strength, outdoor access, community engagement and more. With a $5,000+ price tag out-of-pocket, the bike would be financially out-of-reach for Emberly’s family without assistance.

Adaptive Bike Giveaway Makes Outdoor Access Possible

Emberly’s bike giveaway is funded by the generosity of the Esther & Pedro Rosenblatt Foundation, which provides grants to nonprofit, non-governmental organizations like Help Hope Live that work with children with disabilities and/or illness to improve their lives.

The event marks the 16th adaptive bike giveaway for Help Hope Live, a national medical fundraising nonprofit. The nonprofit will continue to work with Emberly’s family to engage in community-based fundraising to offset the countless out-of-pocket medical and related expenses associated with her diagnosis. Learn more here.
