The Rollettes Have a Mission: Be Boundless

You may recognize the Rollettes from their TV performances and at Abilities Expos nationwide. Did you know, though, that Chelsie Hill founded the Rollettes and the Rollettes Experience to meet other women like her and create friendships?

This is the central goal of their #BeBoundless18 educational platform, and the Rollettes are inviting friends, the community and influencers across the globe to get involved. They hope to make a big splash to inspire and motivate other people who use wheelchairs to Live Independently—whether it’s physical, mental or emotional independence.

Giving Back: Rollettes Will Visit Marionjoy Rehab Peer Support Group

One aspect of living independently arrives in a community of friends and loved ones who support your hopes and dreams, as well as offering a hand when you need it. That’s why the Rollettes actively work with peer support programs, helping people who are still in the hospital adjusting to life after spinal cord injury.

“In the beginning, I thought, well, when someone breaks a bone, they heal,” Hill told the TODAY show about her understanding after her own accident. “It takes a little bit, but they get back to their life. I didn’t really understand the extent of what had happened (to me). I knew there was a car accident, and the doctor said, ‘You’re not going to be able to walk again,’ but I didn’t know what that meant. I didn’t know what the future looked like.”

“Of course there are things I miss being able to feel—leaps and kicks and backflips,” Hill continued. “But when I’m performing, I still feel the same rush that I used to. And when I go on stage, I don’t feel my chair. I don’t feel different. I’m just dancing, and that’s where my heart is.”

Join Rollettes team members Chelsie Hill and Steph Aiello, along with Cure Medical Advocate Chris Collin, as they present at the Lives in Motion Peer Support group event on Thursday, June 28, from 5 pm to 8 pm.

The event will take place at the Marionjoy Rehabilitation Hospital campus in Wheaton, IL, as Chelsie, Steph and Chris share their personal stories of trials and triumphs, followed by meeting one-on-one with attendees.

The Rollettes Dance Experience: You Can Take Part, Too

Whether you just come to watch or decide to get in on the fun yourself, it’s an experience you won’t want to miss.
