#ThisIsHowI Campaign Showcases What’s Possible

Join AbleThrive on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd to celebrate abilities with the #ThisIsHowI campaign. The campaign kicks off on this day and showcases life with a disability to hgihlight what’s possible. We encourage people all over the world to take photos and/or 10-20 second videos of the innovations and adaptations in their lives and share them on social media, hashtagging #ThisIsHowI. The goal is to cast the community in the positive light it deserves, and to work to dispel disparaging stereotypes.

Raise Awareness and Show Off Your Accomplishments with #ThisIsHowI

Need ideas? Try #ThisIsHowI type, use a phone, dance, play with my kids, get dressed, drive a car, drive my wheelchair, garden, fish, play basketball…the possibilities are endless! Each week we’ll post a new theme through December and January, so there will be plenty of opportunities to participate and flood social media with the reality of life with a disability, rather than the negative and limiting perceptions we see on mainstream media.

Ready to make your own? Once it’s posted, challenge three of your friends to do the same. Pick something you’re eager to show off or a cool trick that you’re proud of. Be sure to tag #ThisIsHowI and @AbleThrive on Facebook, Instagram and/or Twitter.
