Wayne W. Broadfield III, AIA, is the Associate Director of Architecture at the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA). He joined PVA in 2018 to fulfill the organization’s mission to promote an accessible, barrier free environment for all veterans and people with disabilities.

Mr. Broadfield advocates on behalf of Veterans with Spinal Cord Injuries/ Disorders (SCI/D) to improve accessibility and privacy that they deserve throughout all U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals and medical centers.

His accessibility advocacy and design expertise have improved accessibility to many public buildings, stadiums, courthouses, memorials, and other structures – providing equal access to all. Related, he participates on several national committees currently reviewing accessibility changes to ICC ANSI A117.1, the most widely adopted accessibility code in the country, crafted after the adoption of the American with Disabilities Act.

Wayne also offers resources and support to homeowners that are planning home design and renovations, through our publication Accessible Home Design, 2nd Edition.

Wayne is a licensed architect in the State of Maryland and holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Jefferson University. He lives in Maryland with his wife and two English bulldogs.
