After a life-altering rollover car accident in 2012 that left her paralyzed from the chest down, Sharon Malone transformed personal adversity into a mission of empowerment. Defying medical expectations, she endured seven months of rehabilitation before returning home to her three young children. Becoming a single mother shortly after, Sharon confronted her fears about protecting her family by immersing herself in emergency preparedness training, self-defense classes, earned her concealed carry weapons license, and joining a spinal cord injury mentoring group that practiced Jiu-Jitsu skills from a wheelchair.
Learning that people with disabilities are twice as likely to be assault victims fueled Sharon’s passion. In 2017, she joined Damsel in Defense, where she now dedicates herself to equipping, empowering, and educating others on personal safety. With over seven years of specialized training, Sharon brings authentic lived experience to her safety education programs. Her mission is clear: ensure everyone she teaches develops the confidence to fight back effectively when threatened. Sharon ran for Ms. Wheelchair America 2025 and placed 2nd runner up on her platform “Safety Education for People with Disabilities”.
Sharon’s powerful message resonates with diverse audiences: “Your life and the lives of those you love are worth the fight.”
