Reimagine Seated Health with Kalogon

People who use wheelchairs have unique seated health needs—every body is different and some may need more postural support, some may need to focus on skin integrity and all want to focus on being able to improve their seating tolerance and comfort to live the lives they want to live.

Wheelchair users are diverse and have unique needs for a cushion, from postural support to skin protection. Building successful products for the wide variety of needs includes listening to the people who are sitting on products and the seating specialists who work with them. Kalogon builds products by listening, learning and continuous improvements.

Kalogon has an innovative complete seating system for customized needs featuring Orbiter Med and Bondar.

Orbiter Med: A Smarter Cushion

Launched in 2024, the award-winning Orbiter Med combines Kalogon’s groundbreaking Advanced Pressure Management System (APMS) with the individualized postural support of a custom cushion reimbursable by insurance. Each Orbiter Med is designed and fabricated based on a person’s unique seating and positioning requirements—needs that can’t sufficiently be satisfied by a prefabricated seating system.

“Our goal has always been to deliver adaptive seating solutions that solve direct problems for our customers. Our first Orbiter cushion was created out of a need for innovation in seating for people at higher risk for pressure injuries, who have been ignored for decades,” said Tim Balz, CEO and co-founder of Kalogon.

“Orbiter has been proven to improve blood flow and has already changed the lives of countless customers living active seated lives, but we know that one size doesn’t fit all. Orbiter Med is a fully customized system that blends the best technology in pressure management with tailored stability and postural support specific to a patient’s needs.”

Orbiter’s core technology, APMS, has been proven to improve blood flow with two peer reviewed studies published in 2024. This technology uses an app where seating specialists can tune a cushion to deliver the optimal seating experience for each person.

Once the settings are dialed, the cushion performs intelligent pressure redistributions throughout the day adjusting to people’s movements and ambient environments. Other benefits of this technology are that it allows for people to adapt the cushion over time and for different activities by a simple app adjustment.

Since launch, the game changing product continues to develop by introducing features such as expanded sizing, a gluteal extension and wide-ranging customizations.

New Kalogon Bondar offers custom fit

In June 2025, Kalogon announced the launch of Bondar—a new Medicare-coded custom-fabricated wheelchair back support. Custom-fit to each user’s unique body shape, Bondar is a 3D-printed back support designed for people who need additional postural correction or support from their wheelchairs.

Based on clinical feedback, Kalogon designed Bondar to be user-friendly for installation and adjustments. The mounting system is easy to lock in place and remove, with fewer screws and steps to fit than most backrests on the market today.

The powerful combination of Bondar and Orbiter Med offers customers a fully coded system that supports overall seated health, including better respiratory function, digestion and mental well-being.

Both the manual wheelchair on the left and the power chair on the right feature the Bondar back support.

Launch Pad simplifies custom seating for therapists and ATPs

Seating specialists—such as assistive technology professionals, occupational therapists and physical therapists—can order Bondar & Orbiter Med custom-fit for clients on Kalogon’s interactive real-time configurator, Launch Pad.

As they input precise measurements, a 360-degree image of the custom order updates in real time, allowing specialists to visualize the final product. This interactive ordering process helps eliminate guesswork and reduces costly remakes, which are common when back supports & cushsions arrive significantly different from what was expected during the ordering process.

Bondar back support: Medicare-coded and engineered for optimal adjustability

Bondar is available in sizes 12”–25” wide, 12”–25” tall, and up to 8” deep and you can achieve precise positioning using the Elevator (height adjustment up to 4.5”) and Grounder (roll adjustment up to 32°), plus seat depth and horizontal side clamp adjustments.

Bondar is coded as an E2617 custom back support. Please speak to your seating specialist to see if this product is right for you.
