HDS MEDALLION: Style and Functionality is in the Bag!

Let’s face it. It’s just not an outfit unless you have the right purse. And, if you are a fashion-conscious woman using a mobility device, HDS MEDALLION is committed to helping you accessorize with their Distinctive CarryAll Bags.

Just ask Connie Schrier of Alabama. “Thank you for making our lives a little better and a lot prettier. A lady with disabilities doesn’t like to stand out in public but with the beautiful bag, people can stare at it and not the handicapped person.”

These bags are the perfect marriage of form and function, and have the versatility to beautify a large variety of mobility devices including thick-armed power chairs, wheelchairs, walkers and more with fifteen different stylish patterns and colors. The brand new Premier Collection bags even offer detachable, adjustable straps to transform it into a shoulder bag or purse for use off the device or by a caregiver. Furthermore, each bag is made of 100% premium cotton, comes with attractive coordinating trim and inside/outside pockets, and is made in the U.S.A.

According to Carol Rady, vice president and co-founder of HDS MEDALLION, the “Distinctive CarryAll Bags were created for women using a mobility device to demonstrate their unique sense of style with a multi-purpose accessory bag that has purse-like functionality and to provide a healthy lift in spirits.”

It all started with Hazel Della Snodgrass. She was feisty, she was independent, she was always well put together and she was extremely active. That is, she was until she broke her hip at the age of 99. After she moved into an assisted living facility, one of her biggest frustrations was the ugly, medicinal looking, metal walker and her inability to carry her things in a stylish purse.

Unable to find a walker bag that Hazel liked, her daughters, Carol and Sharon, took matters into their own hands. Sharon began making bags, which would hang from her walker, the style and flair worthy of her mother’s personality. It was all the rage at the assisted living center and soon all of Hazel’s friends were sporting Sharon’s handiwork.

The sisters really realized they had something special when heard the ladies share how much the bags improved morale and, of course, how much they loved the compliments. HDS MEDALLION (with the initials of their beloved mother’s name) was born and their beautiful bags have been lifting the spirits of the women who wear them ever since.

“We need something to show people we are not ‘invisible’ people. We all need color in our lives, but there is something special about ‘claiming’ your personality—when you are fighting so hard to keep it,” Fran T. Smith weighed in on Facebook. “You [HDS MEDALLION] are doing people who are challenged such a service.”
