And They Danced...
Here's what we did in 2017. Stay tuned for 2018!
Please check back three months
before the Expo for the new schedule.
Auti Angel's "FreeStyle Dance Workshop"
Presented by: Auti Angel, Abilities Expo "Dancebassador", star of Sundance Channel's Push Girls
As the Abilities Expo's "Dancebassador," Auti Angel is committed to keep Wheelchair Dancing as the popular activity it has become, while turning it into the sport it deserves to be. Auti Angel is the pioneer of Wheelchair Hip-Hop Dancing and has inspired others to unite in this movement. She is the founder of Colours~N~Motion Dance Crew with partner Mia Schaikewitz and former dance crew members Chelsie Hill, Katie Estrella, Kaitlyn Staten and Ali Stroker who have since ventured on to form the amazing Walk and Roll Dance Team.
Auti states, "I am so honored to have been given a gift that I can share with others. When I first got injured in 1992, there wasn't anyone I could look to in helping me get back to what I loved doing; and that was DANCE! But once a dancer, always a dancer...so I taught myself how to make my wheelchair work for me as a part of my expression. I then decided to teach others how to do the same while coaching them to express their own inner greatness!"
Auti will start by sharing a dance demonstration with attendees, but then it's YOUR turn to play with some moves as she leads you in her all inclusive FreeStyle Dance Workshop.
Attendees of all ages and mobility levels are welcome to learn fun dance moves they can take away to use wherever their hearts desire. Auti teaches everyone that dancing crosses the boundaries of age, gender, and physical ability; and includes individuals using both manual and power wheelchairs.
